Born on October 7, 1952 in Leningrad, which used to be part of the Soviet Union, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is a powerful political figure. He is currently the president of Russia, the position that he also held from 2000 to 2008. Before serving as president, he was Prime Minister twice – from 1999 to 2000, and from 2008 to 2012. Putin studied law at the Saint Petersburg State University where he graduated in 1975.
