Manny Pacquiao, or more popularly known as the “People’s Champion,” is a famous Filipino professional boxer and is currently a senator in the Philippines. He was born as Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao on December 17, 1987, in the province of Bukidnon, Philippines. He started boxing at the age of 14. He is an eight-division world champion, the only boxer to do so in the history of the sport. He won eleven major world titles throughout his career. In addition to his titles, he is the first boxer ever to win major world titles in four out of the eight weight classes: welterweight, lightweight, featherweight, and flyweight.
Pacquiao ranked second in ESPN’s top pound-for-pound boxers list in 2016. He was hailed as “Fighter of the Decade” in the 21st century by the BWAA, WBC, and WBO. He is one of the highest paid boxers and is the second highest paid athlete in the world, according to Forbes magazine as of 2015.
